Unveiling the Trinity: Exploring the Nature of Jesus and the Incarnation

Posted by Luke J. Wilson on 4th November 2023 in Trinity | trinity, incarnation, two powers in heaven
I recently received a question about the nature of Jesus and the incarnation, which delves into the mystery of the Trinity: "Sorry to trouble you, but I have only one question: Is God the Father and Jesus His Son the same, God Himself in the flesh when He walked the earth? I am still struggling with this concept. When Jesus asked His Father, was He essentially talking to Himself?" Thanks so much for the question, and it is a good question when asked genuinely. It is obviously a very deep and complex topic that covers a lot of Scripture (and history) to fully make sense of, but I’ll try and keep this brief to cover the key points. To gain a better unders...

...tween the Bible and the present day. They fill the void we sometimes wonder about when we get to the end of reading Acts or the Epistles and think, “what happened next?” or “what happened to the Ephesian church after Paul left?” — well now you can read for yourself and see how God continued to grow His Church! Praise for 40 Days with the Fathers: “Timeless truths still for today” — ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Insightful and captivating” — ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “[This book] will round out your knowledge and help you become a better teacher.” — ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “If you are a pastor or church leader, I highly recommend this book for you.”...

Jesus, Yahweh, And The Power Over The Storm

Posted by Luke J. Wilson on 29th July 2024 in Deity of Christ | Jesus, deity of christ,Yahweh, old testament, elements
...Critics of Christianity will often make the claim that Jesus never said he was God or divine in the Gospels. The problem comes when they set unrealistic demands and expectations, like wanting a chapter and verse where Jesus says, “I am God, worship me”. But this isn’t how the Bible works and definitely not how Jesus went about his ministry. Throughout the Gospels, there are clear connections that reveal the true nature of Jesus in ways that would have been obvious to the Jewish people and leaders of his day who were very familiar with the Torah and other Scriptures we now call the Old Testament. One of the most striking examples is His demonstration of po...

Doubting Defying Jihad: Questioning the Popular Conversion Story

...placing a Bible and Quran on scales and pointing out the Quran was heavier! It seems that none of the common muslim arguments against Christianity were made at these occasions, which is particularly surprising since the most popular muslim debater in the world, Zakir Naik, is from India and has an immense audience of millions in Pakistan.3 So are these points conclusive that her story is fraudulent? I’ll leave that decision with you. I find it reasonable to think that if what happened is as she described, there would be people who know the identity of Anwar, of her Father, the militant group they were involved with, the madrassa she attended and at least so...

When Church History and Science Collide

...ghout the Bible which talk of God making the stars as signs in the heavens for important events. There’s plenty that speak about the stars in various ways and for different reasons signifying things God was doing, or events on the earth. The first main reference happens during the creation narrative: Genesis 1:14And God said, “Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years Then also there’s the important one signifying the birth of Christ, which the magi saw and recognised as important: Matthew 2:1–2In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethl...

Was the omniscience of God a developed idea?

Posted by Luke J. Wilson on 21st April 2014 in The Nature of God | progressive revelation, Christocentric, Christotelic, Hermeneutics, omniscience, omnipresence, theology
...u see the Bible and some of the earlier stories, and if it says "the Lord said.." then he really did say it verbatim, and therefore God did need to go and check things out for himself in order to know something. I'm more inclined to think that this could all be brought under the umbrella of progressive revelation again. The New Testament would appear to show God in an all-knowing way completely, without leaving much room for anything but omniscience, for example: Matthew 10:29-30; Matthew 6:3-4; Acts 15:8; 1 Corinthians 4:5; Ephesians 1:1-14; 1 Jn 3:19-20. I think it's safe to say that most of Scripture confirms God's omniscience. Especially since Jesu...
