The Coming of Jesus: Our Future Hope - What Now?

Posted by Luke J. Wilson on 22nd January 2016 in Second Coming Series | second coming,70 weeks,70ad,what now?,what next,preterism,fulfilled prophecy,eighth day
...tion, and signs, wars and bloodshed are behind us and was about the coming judgement on the nation of Israel, then we ought to have no fear of the future or things in the news and headlines on the papers. Definitely not any worry from those preachers who pop up every few years predicting the End. Our hope should be in Christ and his finished work. Even if there is still a “coming” in the future, and we’re taken up to heaven in new bodies, when (or if) it happens, it’ll happen and will be unlike anything else. But in the meantime we should have our focus on our faith and lives in the now. Living righteously for Christ, loving God and loving our neighbo...

Palm Sunday and the End Times

...e strange signs meant just before the Romans attacked Jerusalem, hoping it was a good omen (spoiler: it wasn’t). This all sounds like the armies of heaven, similar to what Elisha saw in 2 Kings 6:17. Circling back to the parable in Luke 19, I hope you can see the connection between Jesus speaking of his kingship and kingdom he was about to receive from the Father, a reward for his obedience to the cross and what that accomplished, through parabolic language. It also speaks to the forty year delay between his death and resurrection and the judgement on the nation of Israel. Jesus returned as King, and the Church began to spread the Good News of His Kingdom t...

The Coming of Jesus: Daniel's 70 Weeks

...point the signs of what's coming will be obvious yet still not definite. "After the sixty-two weeks ... the troops of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city..." – there's an indefinite period of time here, which is why Jesus told his disciples, "when you see all these things, you know that he is near..." I'll be discussing Matthew 24-25 in more detail in Part 3 of this series; the next part will be looking at what exactly "coming on the clouds of heaven" means in terms of it's usage in the Old Testament prophetic texts, and how the disciples and those listening to Jesus would have understood it, as all these phrases link the New to the Old Testa...

...orking of signs is not ours but the Saviour's work”; so we should keep in mind what Jesus said to his disciples on this matter: Luke 10:20Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Those who boasted in their works rather than in Christ who has sealed them (2 Cor 1:22; Eph 1:13; 4:30) were those who will be turned away by Jesus in judgement (Matt 7:22); and so because of this, Anthony urges that we seek the gift of discernment as John wrote in his letter (1 John 4:1) that we may not be deceived. Anthony goes on to give some of his personal testimony to show that he is not just...

...ue to the signs that the Lord was doing through him, he decided to find a new place to dwell. Anthony set off to find a new secluded place and, by a heavenly voice, was pointed towards a group of Saracens who were heading deeper into the desert; so Anthony travelled with them for three days and three nights until he came to a new mountain with a clear, fresh stream and a plain with some palm trees. Here he decided to settle down to stay. Tomorrow we will see how Anthony gets on at his new home and what the Lord does with him there! I hope you're finding the life of Anthony as interesting as I am and look forward to what comes next.  ...
