26 Differences Between Muhammad and Jesus

...opped his disciples from causing violence. (Luke 9:53–55; 22:49–51) Muhammad killed captives taken in battle (Ibn Ishaq 451)  ? Jesus never took captives and never killed anyone. Muhammad encouraged his men to rape enslaved women (Abu Dawood 2150, Qur’an 4:24)  ? Jesus never encouraged rape and never enslaved women. Muhammad demanded captured slaves and a fifth of all other loot taken in war (Qur’an 8:41)  ? Jesus took no booty or charity. He taught, “The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve.” (Matthew 20:28) Muhammad was never tortured but tortured others (Muslim 4131, Ibn Ishaq 436, 595, 734, 764).  ? J...

The Deity of Christ in the Gospel of Matthew - Part 2

...ollow his disciples wherever they are until his return. His person is not limited to the location of his physical body — his temple. He has a nature which is transcendent, omnipresent, and unrestrained by space. In the book of Jeremiah, Jehovah describes himself as having this attribute (Jeremiah 23:23–24): ““Am I a God who is near,” declares the Lord, “And not a God far off? 24 Can a person hide himself in hiding places So that I do not see him?” declares the Lord. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the Lord” (see also Psalm 139). In Matthew 28:20 Jesus is claiming an attribute of God alone and thereby claiming to be Go...

Coffee With Jesus: Luke 24

Posted by Luke J. Wilson on 10th February 2023 in Devotional | Coffee with Jesus,Road to Emmaus, resurrection, eucharist
...Brief thoughts from daily devotions The road to Emmaus. A familiar story from the Gospel to many, though today as I read it, I noticed some things which I probably glossed over in previous times. At the start of this chapter we see that some of the women who followed Jesus had gone to the tomb with spices to prepare the body of Jesus, and yet were met with a few surprises: an open, empty tomb and some angels! They ran back to the group of apostles and other disciples to tell the exciting news, and what was their response? “[T]hese words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them.” (v.11). They thought it was nonsense! Probably not the react...

Lent Day 39: Leo the Great: Sermon XLIX (On Lent XI)

...th as the disciples did, before we realise the reality of the resurrection which comes in a few short days. “Who is there who would not wish for additions to his virtue, or removal of his vice?” Leo asks rhetorically, referring to the benefits of the Lenten fast and discipline. “Blessed, therefore, is the mind that passes the time of its pilgrimage in chaste sobriety, and loiters not in the things through which it has to walk”. Leo refers this back to what Paul taught in 1 Corinthians 7:29-31 as a way of living in such a way that we don't get too caught up in this life and this world that we forget about the divine promise and the life we are called to...

7 things the Lord hates (spoiler: questioning doctrine isn't one of them)

...ou are my disciples" (Matt 7:16; Jn 13:35). There are ways to discuss and correct people who have wronged you (cf. Matt 18:15; Galatians 6:1), or who you think are saying/teaching the wrong things (cf. Acts 18:26), or times to just listen and wait (cf. James 1:19-20; Proverbs 18:13). "Jars of Clay: Cracked!" by nakedpastor David Hayward   The Kingdom of God is counter-culture. That means the ethics and morals often go against what secular culture says and approves of. Just look at the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7. Everything Jesus says to do it practically the opposite of what you'd expect or want ...

The next 50 years

...ou are my disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:35   Stop worrying about how The World acts and lives, and manage your own house. For what have I to do with judging those outside? Is it not those who are inside that you are to judge? 1 Cor 5:12 Act in love towards one another and let that bleed out INTO the World. Let them know us by our love and watch them come. God's house will stand in spite of us....
